This is so weird. I ming ming got post the exact same post with the exact same title just early this morning say about 12++ am but now its gone. Nola, actually, AhFei is in the process of moving the server and I guess I choose the wrong time to post anything because now I have to re-write the whole post. But luckily, can retreive the exact same stuff i wrote so for those that have read it and left some comments, erm, can you re-comment again?
I think these days, the word “safe” has become a myth already. Its something that you can only wish you have but in reality no one or no where can give you the kind of safety that you need. Out of the 10 people you know, almost 7-8 people have their own experience of being
robbed story to share. Isn’t this statistic something amazing? You might wonder who’s fault is it that the society has turned so cruel. Could it be the victims themselves because they fail (if not all) to report the robberies? Perhaps because things just happen out of a sudden that the
victim could not response in time and provide sufficient information to the authority to catch the robber? Or could it be because there are so many people out there being full time robbers that the police force has been outnumbered? The cases have been treated so commonly that being
robbed is like just being treated ngau yok gwan (in chinese it means barbeque meat aka saman)
Just to share a little experience with everyone. My sister was robbed on a sunday morning around 8.30 am at a housing area in Petaling Jaya. The area is a SS17 nearby Sin Chew Jit Poh office or also known as Rothmans roundabout. She was about to cross the streets on her way to church when suddenly a black Proton Iswara cruised by her side. The assailant
wind-ed (forgot how to spell the past tense for wind) down the window and smiled at her. In just seconds, her handbag in which she was carrying with her was snatched away from her and the car sped off. Because my sister happens to be a little slow slow dei, it was only then
she realized that she was being robbed.
Luckily for her, she was with her future husband’s sister who managed to get the car number before it disappeared before their eyes. The ordeal was pretty shocking for her as she lost her IC, driving license, together with my old handphone (which I passed down to her), my
mom’s car keys, our house keys, my aunt’s hotel membership car (which we used it to get 50% discount for the buffet they serve it the hotel) and most importantly, her foundation. If guys don’t know what a foundation is, its something girls used to put as a base for makeup and
to cover pimples and scars on our face. Why the foundation is the most important thing for her? Because she never whine about the cost of losing the IC or driving license and immediately replenished her foundation stock the very next day.
Young girls hor, always whine about losing their makeup instead of the money because the makeup in the bag probably costs more than the cash in the wallet itself, anyway! Even my cousin who nearly got robbed in her housing area (she was walking back home on an early afternoon) mentioned to us that she was lucky she managed to save her bag by throwing the handbag into a neighbour’s house because she would lost her most precious asset. Her cosmetics. Duh! *Me rolls the eye*
Back to my sister, after calling my mom for help we rushed over to PJ to get her to the nearest police station to report the whole incident. The police were pretty helpful although in my own personal opinion, I feel more safe outside the compound that inside. The police even checked
on the car number plate and asked if she saw who was the assailant, chinese or malay. My sister confrimed they were both Malay men but the number plate was registered to a chinese man driving a black Honda.
They mentioned that they will investigate the matter and would need my sister’s help to identify the robbers. But til today, no news was heard from them. Perhaps they are too busy catching the more dangerous & threatening people that would harm the society. (although on that day,
they were all pretty free because a lot of them were sitting in an area watching Astro’s HBO. Maybe the crime rate on that day was very low. Perhaps, my sister’s case is the first case for the day)
Though, I do hope one day, we can walk safely in the streets once again like we used to back 20 - 30 years ago. Care to share your own daylight robbery story?
