Finally, my sister’s back home again. Firstly, I would like to thank everyone for their emotional and spiritual support. I would also like to say that I really appreciate all your concerns and get well soon wishes. Thank you so much! (wah! Suddenly, sound like those movie stars in the stage saying thank you’s)
Actually it all started about a week ago, last Wednesday. Dear sister has always complain of stomach ache but doctors “worldwide” always dismiss it as gastric pain. You see, she’s always been a stubborn little girl so when even when the pain unbearable started in the middle of the Wednesday, she refused to wake my mom up to speak to her. It wasn’t until the very next day that she admitted to Mom that something’s wrong. At first, everyone dismissed it as gastric but the pain persisted until Sunday. Practically the every day from Thursday til Saturday, we visited doctors but they could not do anything but give those gastric pills.
It wasn’t until Sunday when Mom decided to visit the gastrolo–blah blah doctor. It was evening and the next thing we knew, she was admitted to the hospital because Gastro Doc suspects that its because of the appendix. FYI, to anyone that doesn’t know what appendix is all about, chinese calls it nga nga cheong. Its something in our body that does not have any use at all (I think its the only internal organ in our body that has no use). Docs usually do not know if you really have that unless its serious (thats mean when press on the right hand side of your stomach its super pain) and surgery will have to be done to extract the thing out. In my sister’s case, I think her appendix got supernatural powers because whenever she’s near anyone with the DOC word, her stomach will be really good the pain will suddenly stop. So Gastro Doc checked her up, he could not conclude if its the appendix or not although he’s 70% confident. But whatever the reason is, she will need to be cut opened.
Ha! To all those girls that has gastric problems and love to diet as a way to be slim, my sister is the best example!
Night 1 - Sunday
Got the shocking news from Mom and packed up everything for Sis’s “camping” trip. As the result, with no car (because Dad used my car to go for some important function), I’m supposed to be responsible for little Bro’s dinner. No idea what to eat, decided to call deliveries but ended up a totally disasterous! Later that night, went to visit sis and passed her barang-barangan’s to her. Auntie & Uncle#6 was there for about 3 hours to teman Mom though Auntie #3 and #7 was there earlier too. Poor gal had to stay in the hospital alone.
Sis with Auntie & Uncle #7 eating cold porridge that I accidently did not heat up
Sis annoyed (please see the eyes) when she caught me taking pics of her
Day 1 - Monday
Went to work as usual after work, practically had to run over to DSH hospital to teman my sister. She was hyper although I know its due to the boredom. Painkillers were given so she didn’t feel the excruciating pain as she did earlier last week. Doc mentioned that she had to go for surgery tomorrow. Guess what? She had to shave her tummy so no infection will happen during surgery. But something weird and kinda funny happened. Pretty Nurse came it to inform her about the shaving and gave Sis 2 options.

- I do it for you
At first, thought maybe option 1 but then we decided that 2 will be better since she’s the pro. So we rang the bell and waited. Waited and waited still got no one. Since the station was only 10 feet away, we decided to walk over instead. At the station, no one was around, waited and waited. Suddenly we saw just opposite the station was the nursing room for the new born babies. After goo-goo-ga-ga over the babies for a while, we headed back to the ward. Before I go any further, there are actually 2 doors in my Sis’s ward (its a 4 bedded ward). Since Sis sleeps nearer to Door2, we always used Door2. As we were heading towards the ward, we passed by Door1 and a nurse came out looking pale, white, confused, shocked whatever. We were staring at her and she was staring at us. At that time, we weren’t sure if she’s the nurse or trainee or cleaner or what because her uniform was different from Pretty Nurse. Moments passed and it was kinda weird so I decided that perhaps we should wonder aloud that we are looking for a nurse.
Sis : Ya, Ya we looking for nurse
Pale Nurse : OH! So you yang bunyi la? Jangan takutkan saya! Eng : oh! So you are the one that rang the bell? Don’t frighten me! (looking super relieved at the same time)
Sis (shocked) : You, jangan takutkan saya baru betul! Eng : You, should be the one not to frighten me!
Weird hor? But at that time, Pale Nurse really look like she saw ghost or something. It was the look you see in people’s face when they saw something that they cannot put in together.
Day 2 - Tuesday a.k.a surgery day
Did not turn up for work because sis requested me to stay with her. Surgery that was supposed to be scheduled at 1pm turned out to be 10am instead. Mom rushed to hospital whereas I was in charge of sending Bro to school. Later after that, I went to hospital and sat there until 8pm. Sis was in pain. Looking at her like that I also feel the pain. So poor thing. As time passed, she was looking better and could started walking a little with help from everyone. In the afternoon, she got a bouquet of Lilies from Uncle #7. Awwww, how sweet!
There were visits from Auntie #3, #6, #1 & #4 as well as her future sister in law. Even my little cousins came. Everyone was busy posing (actually its typical that my extended family like to take pictures from gardens to toilets to as you can see, hospitals). SoGua came as well after work. It was already 11pm by the time I reach home because I ate Nasi Pattaya at Nasi Kandar Penang at TTDI (for more updates on the delicious Nasi Pattaya, look out at YummyCorner).
Day 3 - Wednesday
Back at work, its like hurricane. My table’s a mess, there were shits to clean up and stress was everywhere. Ended up not visiting sis. Sad but had to finish all the pending work. Ended up again back home late again. But the good news is Sis coming home tomorrow morning. Bad news, reports on the appendix is not out yet
Back at home
She’s all up and well now although the cut is still pain though but I’m glad she’s alright. Oh, the hospital bills was a whopping RM4970! RM4000 just for surgery alone although the incission was only just about 2 - 3 inches. Crazy bill. Looks like this round, I’ll have to fork out some money this CNY ^^!

how come they didn’t do the hands-off surgery? for such a price of RM4k, they should have poke 3 holes in the abdomen. 1 camera, and 2 surgery knifes. Besides, it wouldn’t leave such big a scar on the tummy too.
But it’s ok, me do hope your sis get well soon. The scar won’t be obvious if your family have good skin. Take care lots lots!

oh my goodness! im gonna kill my sis for putting up such an ugly and hideous pic of me!!!!!TAKE IT OFF!!
kampungkai:yay! i know the answer to that ques..hehe..the method that u mentioned is called laparoscope.this method is used if the doc wants to see around the abdominal part using the small camera inserted besides removing the appendix.this surgery costs around 8k. in my case, i had an option of 1)laparoscope (which could burn a big hole in my dad’s pocket) or 2)just the normal hands on surgery to remove the appendix.
since the doc was pretty sure it was my appendix prob, all he had to do was just remove it cuz the other method costs way alot more. and abt the scar..i’m still hoping and praying it’ll be so tiny it can hardly be seen. :Þ

auntie maria, count on my extended family to turn things from sad to happy. How can anyone say no to cute newly born babies! My sister’s fine now. On soft diet and have to keep away from “poisonous” food ler. Now can walk up and down and throw tantrum. Soon, she’ll start jumping. This Thursday going back to Gastro Doc see what are the appendix results say. Thanks for the concern!
