You might think that in a developing country, everyone should be courteous or otherwise have good manners. Sure there are those that are really nice and polite in the most educated way, but there are still a handful of those people out there that do not even know the basic manners. Just look at the queue on the bus stops. Eh, wait! What queue? Aiyo, don’t say bus stop la, even when shopping also cannot see any queue at all. Or not, kena potong line la.

Like this customer today, I was shopping around and when I’m done, I decided to get to the shortest cashier counter to pay my stuff. Co-incidently, the customer in front of me was paying for 3 plastic containers had an issue of barcode with one of the plastic containers. The cashier, noting that I was waiting, politely requested the customer to pay for the first 2 containers which she had scaned into the system first. The 3rd container, she mentioned, would be paid separately since there is a customer waiting in line. Educated but very rude lady insisted to wait for the 3rd container ignoring me because she wanted to pay with her credit card. Guess how much was the costs of the first 2 containers? RM1900 RM19.00! Wei, tak sampai RM20 pun la. Don’t tell me you don’t even have RM20 in your pockets. Somemore you have a husband there with you. Somemore wear all nice and proper. Don’t even seems to be like those people that live and breathe credit cards. No wonder the credit card business is thriving! Thank God her husband and her are both matchmade in heaven. Why? Because they are both equally ignore of the other customers piling behind. In the end, the hypermarket had to make a quick decision to open another counter to cope with the rush.

Then, I personally experienced a very crowded 1st day of a new hypermarket in town. Everyone was so excited that the crowds were lining up just to get into the store. Of course, everyone was fighting with the cheapest bargains they could get their hands on. At that time, one of the highlights of the offer was Cutie Compact toilet rolls. You know how toilet rolls are packed right? In a huge plastic packaging? Because of the rush, many people were practically fighting for the stocks as soon as the staffs there took the stocks to the promotional shelf for display. Then suddenly, I saw 2 customers holding at each end the last toilet roll pulling and tugging until finally the plastic packaging gave up and broke. The toilet rolls then were rolling all over the place and both the customers just released the product at the same time and left the same time and at the same time pretended that nothing happened. Crazy or not?

Then another separate incident, customers were all so crazy for the offers on shelves that the stocks were soon finished before half the day was gone. Of course, there were those late customers looking for the stocks that went back unhappy because they could not find what they were looking for. One of the promotional stocks were Milo 2kg, selling super cheap. Co-incidently, a lucky lady managed to get her hands on the last pack and put it into her trolley. Since the store was so jammed up with people, she thought that she could leave the trolley behind just for a short while. At that time, I saw another uncle saw the trolley left unwanted and quickly took the Milo 2kg for the lady’s trolley and put into his own trolley instead. Poor lucky unlucky lady came back and saw the Milo missing and was shocked.

Don’t say her, me also shocked. After those incidents, I was quite disturbed because how can anyone do something like that. Isn’t that call stealing? But it wouldn’t much of a stealing because both parties haven’t paid yet? Crazy la, really.
